I've been looking at buying a few new PMR446 radios and this is one of the models I've considered.
Thanks for the review, it was very helpful. I'm a semi pro user and I'm currently using Vertex Standard VX-146's which are very good solid radios, but some need replacing and the TXL's are smaller units, plus being able to use AA cells makes it far more convenient.
Today, the best price I've found is £55 (inc' p+p), which I think is excellent and if they last and work aswell as the VX-146's, then I'll be more than happy.

just watched you reviview on the txl 446 and from every thing i have seen on your youtube video i would have to say that is one good radio i have been with motorola for many years in the pro series any thing from the old timer model ht220 to the mx line mx340 mx350 mx360 which has been out of service for awhile now still a good radio though im impressed with the fact that even in low power your radios on open space line of sight can get 4 miles if thats low power simplex with no repeater i would have to ask whats you high power radios capable of in terms of miles ? also your band of 446 mhz just shocked me becuase here in the usa that band is used for ham 440 uses from 440.000 to 449.998mhz so to say the least was kind of backwords to lol.. becuase here the fcc has it set up for 462 to 467 for frs and gmrs i would have to think the companys would put on better antennas for a better signal output im a bit of a mavrick when the cobra came out with frs radios i opened them up and got rid of there connectors and antennas put mx connectors on and 6 inch motorola quarter wave antennas and it made all the difference in transmitt and recieve range instead of three blocks the range increased to 9 blocks not to bad for at that time a quarter watt of power ! just some thoughts i wanted to share thanks for listening and giving a great review on the txl 449 feel free to email me back anytime thanks for listening vince in walla walla wa. usa . email vincejazz@yahoo.com
