I love these desk mics to bits and I had a black one in the late 80's but like a fool I sold it, Anyway I picked up a Skipmaster 42000 which is exactly the same at a bootsale the other week and Ive had nothing but glowing reports from it, Blows my Turner Expander 500 out of the water. I was wondering though who originally made this micophone? Was it Leson or Skipmaster or Ham International? Because I have seen the same mic before but under different names. Oh and if anyone has one for sale let me know because I can't get enough of them :D

i've got a Ham Master 4200 somewhere with a broke PTT bar..
my mate decided to try it and snapped a lug off, so the bar has sunk into the mic..
sure it could be fixed..!

Probably the same as many CB's. Mass produced in a factory then badged independently at the end of the line with whatever name plate. I have an Altai DM478 microphone here. Exactly the same as the K-PO NM-532 in all but name.

i wouldn't rip him for it...
after all it's just a name badge, sold under licence as Ham International, Leson and Ham Master..

like most things in the 70's and 80's, made in the same factory, stickers applied to sell via..

it's this Major thing that gets me, how people call them Ham Internationals....they might have been made in the same factory, share the same insides, but no one calls them 'cybernets' they call the Ham Internationals...**** knows why, because there is a sticker on the back :)

a bit like moonraker, and nevada and pama, they are mostly distributors..

not all of us are as..... well...... intimately involved...... with the rigs as a collector of your standing.

it says Ham International on the front doesn't it?

so what other rigs which aren't as well known as say a multimode 11 are the same radio in another jacket?

(and back in the 80's I had a desk mic that wasn't a leson but looked identical)

Majors don't say Ham International on the front...just on a sticker on the back, written after DISTRIBUTED BY.. :)

multimode 2 same board as a concorde, midland 7001, major 360, cobra 150, and plenty more..

my point is and always will be this calling a major a Ham International..

you don't call a pair of Nike trainers bought from footlocker, footlocker nikes :)
or a vauxhall a new crown vauxhall..!!

a Bit like these RCI-2950/70 etc etc called Rangers..!!
nope they are mearly RCI, Ranger Communication industries..
not a Ranger..!!

a Ranger is a clear channel AR3500 :)

oh right i'm on one, off to slash my wrist's..!!

He probably gone down to the clarity shop and got himself lost

You wouldn't catch me taking a classic mic like the TW232 to the local Oxfam :o

What I would like to know is where does all the battery covers of the TW232 disappear to :?: One of those great mysteries of life, like the disappearing biro's, socks, rig thumbscrews, and antenna allen keys.
