Speaker Mics for Puxing/Wouxun/Weierwei, etc.

I've been thinking about buying one of these lately to try out. There seems to be quite a selection available, some of them considerably more expensive than others.
I dont need to it be waterproof, or indestructible, but decent audio quality would be preferable.

I wonder if anyone has any suggestions on what to get, or what to avoid. :?:

For the Puxing/Wouxun (I'm assuming the other one's the same pinout) - look through ebay for a secondhand Kenwood one - they're reliable, sound good and they're weatherproof.

I have tried several types, all kenwood clones, and have settled on this type:

(see Ebay item 270480023319)

PROS:

They are consistently better on rx audio,
They are a bit toppy on TX audio, but still sound ok.
The PTT switching has proven to be the most reliable
They work on all lintons / puxings / Wouxuns
The rotatable clip and built in earphone socket are useful

CONS:

The lead is very tightly coiled and doesn't stretch as much as others.

I have four of them here, they're in weekly, if not daily use.

You could try this one from eBay, I use it all the time without any problems...

the one bigbloke linked to is a clone of the original kenwood - which I can confirm is very good.

the one buggerlugs linked to is OK - but I wouldn't plump for those ones personally.

Thanks for the info guys. Its nice to know some of the cheaper models work well.
The one BB suggested seems great for a ridiculously low price. :lol:

I just bought a Kenwood for my Wouxon from http://www.usedpoliceradios.co.uk/stock.htm

They are ex police speaker mics and come with a brand new covert ear piece. The Recieve audio is great and loud and the TX reports are clear and loud.

The company charges £10 each and they are based in my town so if you want one i can get one providing you pay the postage and packaging.

Hi BigBloke,
I am also looking for a good speaker mic for my Wouxun but I couldn't find the one you recommended on ebay (this item number does not seem to be available anymore).
Any chance you could post an updated link on where to find them or the name of the manufacturer and type so I can try to find it?
I usually buy stuff from 409shop, maybe it's available there?
